In order to improve the art of auscultation, especially in combination with the additional insight that the PCG can offer, we developed the HD fono, a product that enabled access to the combined technology at a lower price point and with a simpler feature set.

As the idea of a digitally enhanced way to detect murmurs and auscultate is new, and also current education does not incorporate the PCG, based on clinicians feedback, the PCG display component disabled in normal use, only being enabled when used connected to a PC.

However, we have added several tools to enable using the HD fono through self-paced activities to learn about the PCG function. This includes a detailed HD fono Tutorial software, that includes a database of real and simulated heart sounds, a special external HD fono speaker, than enables you to “Auscultate” body sounds from the PC . HD Medical is also in process of establishing an educational portal on this site, that includes a larger database of body sounds, as well as discussion forums and expert panels
